The first Friday of June, we assembled on Boston Common for one of our favorite events of the year, the Boston Dyke March. We came earlier than usual too, as we set up a booth for the first time in this Nun’s memory of the event. Sister Stella Tension-Hor and Novice Sister Cheri Tonin gave out many glitter blessings, S.L.U.T. Bags and whistles as Sister Brother Freddie Anne Willing, Sister Florence Night Impale and Novice Father Carm De Garcon joined the titular march. We all came together after, shaking those buckets to make sure there’s a Dyke March 2027! At the end of the night some members joined the fire eating ceremony as well!
The Dyke March is a community forward event creating a safe and accessible space with minimal capitalist involvement and police pressence. It’s a chance for those who are uncomfortable at other events to come forward and both celebrate pride and participate in the event as a form of protest. We continue to be grateful to all the volunteers who work all year to make this event possible.
