On Friday, September 27, Point Nun Sister Eunice X was joined early in the AM at The Convent for communal facing by Sister Ima Miracle and Postulant Lida Christ. After facing up, Lida drove our little clutch of Nuns to the JFK Museum for the HIV Over 50 conference, where we had time to set up a table with a laptop displaying the IntoTheHabit.org web site, examples of our Into The Habit playing card decks, and candy!!
We certainly raised a few eyebrows, but many attendees did recognize us. A few even had seen us just last weekend during Harbor to the Bay. Folks were friendly and receptive to our message and our launch of Into The Habit. A few folks indicated an interest in contributing content. Also, we took in $110 in donations (and handed out 11 decks of cards from the SPIB stash – not the Fenway Health donated card deck stash). $60 in cash and $50 by PayPal.
I am sorry to say that we learned the hard way how easy it is for people to pocket decks, and during a particularly busy time at the table we lost track of two. We will deduct these from the Fenway health donated card deck stash.
SPIB for donation decks delivered: 12
SPIB for donation decks awaiting pickup by Bimea 5
Fenway donated decks for H2B: 3
Fenway donated decks for HIV Over 50: 7
A Massachusetts attorney that has been very involved in healthcare access and HIV was given an award in the name of JFK, and Sisters Ima and Eunice brought his beautiful lead crystal award to the stage for his recognition. Afterwards, Eunice had 60 seconds to introduce The Boston Sisters and also describe Into The Habit. Since we had arranged in advance for an example playing card to be added to each of the attendee welcome bags, she could easily direct them to the cards and the web site. She also invited the attendees to consider making contributions to the web site content.
Just before 1:00 PM, the three Nuns raced back to The Convent for fast defacing before Lida and Eunice went back to their secular jobs. Ima had the beautiful day to enjoy.
And there was much rejoicing.
