Penny Drive for Victims of Hurricane Sandy

On Saturday, November 3, 2012, Point Nun Bimea Ferrari led Sisters Eunice X., KrisTall Mighty and Sandra Musique, together with Novice Frieda B. Fabulous through Boston on a Penny Drive to benefit the American Red Cross, specifically for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

We departed the Convent around 10:00 AM, and made our way to the Green Line, which we took to City Hall Plaza (see photo). There, we made our way from the plaza onto Fanueil Hall Marketplace where we learned that the marketplace is private property (and solicitation of donations is frowned upon). Therefore, we found the line marking public and private land, and made good use of it. Feeling the New England winter upon us, we made our way into the North End where we had lunch in a lovely family restaurant, and made great friends. We meandered from the North End through Downtown, lingered around Park Street, then through the Boston Common and the Public Garden, and finally back to the Convent by way of Newbury Street.

We raised $298.44 (and one Canadian nickel). We made up the $1.56 to the amount raised to bring the check to an even $300 for the Red Cross.
