For over 30 years, Lesléa has been the pioneer author of children’s literature covering important themes such as LGBTQ+ parenting, gender expression, body image, and her culture as a Jewish woman, to name just a few. She has authored over 70+ books for children, adolescents, and adults. Her titles include Heather Has Two Mommies, Sparkle Boy, The Boy Who Cried Fabulous, and the poetry collection October Mourning: A Song for Matthew Shepard. Due to the nature of many of her titles, some of her books have been banned as well as the subject of much controversy. Despite this, she has continued to share important stories that have undoubtedly helped many families and children throughout the world feel seen and accepted.
